Process

After students have divided into four groups, delegated roles and completed their individual research, they are required to apply the gathered knowledge to the following two (2) tasks:

Task 1:

Students are required to individually write a letter to the Nakka Nakka local council representative expressing their nominated point of view in regards to the deforestation of the Nakka Nakka forest. Students are given further links to research in some roles and the google search bar on others. They are to research the points brought up in each role and write a letter aiming to persuade the representative to see things from their point of view. This letter should also address both the costs and benefits of their arguments in light of social, economic, political and environmental factors.

Task 2:

Students are required to collaborate their individual research and gathered knowledge/understandings of their chosen roles and arguments within their group. While discussing they are to include the costs and benefits of their arguments and the associated social, economic, political and environmental factors. Using this gathered knowledge, students are to create a 3-5 minute oral presentation with a visual element (using Photo Story) that enhances the content and overall quality and effect of the performance. The oral should account for all arguments and individual research and provide a clear statement regarding a viable solution that benefits all parties. This outcome must also find a balance between ensuring the ecological quailty and sustainability while allowing for economic growth and development within the town

It is suggested that the first three (3) lessons are dedicated to students progressing through the Webquest tasks while the fourth (4) and final lesson be set aside for the group presentations.
