This Webquest is designed for a Year 9 Biology or Geography class and when completed in class alone will take up approximately four (4) 60 minute lessons. Focussing on Rainforests, the task not only provides students with background information of the rainforest itself but also encourages higher-order thinking as they endeavour to individually critique the positive and negative impacts of deforestation in light of social, cultural, economic, political and environmental criteria and build an argument for a particular perspective. After this students are then required to work collaboratively as a team, combining their individual knowledge and arguments in order to come up with viable solutions that benefit all persons involved with a particular case study.
